The Palmer Gallery presents an exhibition of "Summer Work" by 11 artists, September 10 - 25, 2010.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY—The work of 11 Vassar students will be on view at the college’s James W. Palmer Gallery from Friday, September 10, through Saturday, September 25, in the exhibition Summer Work by Vassar Studio Art Majors. The Palmer Gallery is open to the public without charge and is located in the College Center of Main Building. The gallery will be open to the public Mondays to Saturdays from 11:00am – 6:00pm, and Sundays from 12:00 – 6:00pm. An artists’ reception will be held on Monday, September 13, from 5:00 to 6:30pm.
The artists included in the exhibition are: Rhys Bambrick ’11, Annika Bastacky ’11, Sadie Burzan ’11, Mollie Flannery ’11, Kimmy Lawes ’11, Jodi Lazarus ’11, Cagla Misirli, Michael Mulat ’11, Samantha Shin ’12, Charlotte Terry ’12, and W. Russell Webner ’11.

About the James W. Palmer III Gallery

Situated between the North Atrium and the Retreat cafeteria, the James W. Palmer III Gallery is at the heart of the College Center. Constructed in 1996, the gallery was named and endowed by the Palmer family in 2000 in memory of their son James, a member of the class of 1990. Serving as an exhibition space for artwork created within and beyond the Vassar community, the gallery displays art of diverse mediums, themes, and origins.

Summer Work
Eleven students from the Vassar College Studio Art Department present their summer work. Artist reception on September 13 at 5:00pm.


October 5 - October 23
Adventures of Volitia: Paradise, Again.
An installation by Melissa Marks that originated in 2009 at Bloomberg SPACE in London as part of their prestigious COMMA series of contemporary art. Now shown for the first time in the United States with a new wall drawing by the artist created in response to its setting at the Palmer Gallery. Artist reception on October 5 at 5:00pm.


October 25 - November 5
My Right Self
A documentary photography series with trans individuals and couples from Philadelphia. Project funding is provided by a distribution grant from the Open Society Institute Documentary Photography Project.

November 11 - December 17
Walk on By . . .
