The Palmer Gallery welcomes proposals from artists and arts organizations. However, please be advised that the exhibition schedule is typically booked a full year in advance. Proposals supporting the academic mission of the college from the faculty and members of the Vassar community are given priority consideration. Hours of Operation:
Open daily 11am-6pm (hours subject to change based on availability of student gallery guards).
Building constructed in 1997, Steel and Masonry, three floors, gallery located on 1 st floor
Entire building including gallery is sprinkled.
Access to exhibition area through loading dock.
Exhibition Area and Furniture
The exhibition space is one large room.
Total floor space 1,048 (22'x44'); 8' ceiling height, walls are sheet rock.
Gallery glass cases (locked) are available, ceiling hooks are available for suspending heavy objects.
Central 24 hour temperature control system, forced air heat, central air conditioning.
Temperature range: 68-72 degrees.
Adjustable, dimmed track lighting.
Gallery guards are on duty at all times gallery is open. Gallery is locked and secure when closed to the public. Area is patrolled by security guards during evening hours.
Fire protection is provided according to local ordinances, smoke detectors are connected to a central station. Sprinkler system installed in gallery.
Fire extinguishers nearby, 600ft from a hydrant, 2 miles from a fire department.
All risk museum coverage, wall to wall (with standard exclusions).
