The Palmer Gallery at Vassar College presents an exhibition featuring 19 Hudson Valley artists from the Long Reach Arts Cooperative who work in a variety of media, September 29 - October 16, 2011. The artist reception will be held on October 6.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY—Vassar College's James W. Palmer Gallery's will present the exhibition Structure and Texture that features 19 Hudson Valley artists from the Long Reach Arts cooperative.  This exhibition will be on view from Thursday, September 29, through Sunday, October 16 in the Palmer Gallery located in the College Center of Vassar's historic Main Building. There will be an artist reception on Tuesday, October 6, from 4:30-6:30pm. Both the exhibition and reception are free and open to the public.

The artists included in the exhibition are: Mildred Cohen, Staats Fasoldt, Stacie Flint, Susan Fowler-Gallagher, Jose Gomez, Claudia Gorman, Rob Greene, Trina Greene, Robert Hastings, Carol Loizides, Basha Maryanska, Sherrill Meyers-Nilson, Ellen Metzger O’Shea, Carol Pepper-Cooper, Elisa Pritzker, Nancy Scott, Elayne Seaman, Michelle Squires, and Marlene Wiedenbaum.

The Long Reach Artists Cooperative (formerly known as Summergroup) was founded 29 years ago in 1982. In addition to members of the cooperative achieving recognition as a group, individual members’ works are well known in the Hudson Valley and beyond—represented in both public and private collections in the United States, Europe and Israel (http://longreacharts.com).

About the James W. Palmer III Gallery

Situated between the North Atrium and the Retreat cafeteria, the James W. Palmer III Gallery is at the heart of the College Center. Constructed in 1996, the gallery was named and endowed by the Palmer family in 2000 in memory of their son James, a member of the class of 1990. Serving as an exhibition space for artwork created within and beyond the Vassar community, the gallery displays art of diverse mediums, themes, and origins.
